Now this one hits close to home for me as I went to Brown's Town Primary school. We had a different principal at that time but I still feel complete shock and utter disbelief. Some people are just sick. What could a grown ass man possibly want with a child. Why not seek someone his own age and if he's afraid of coming out as gay due to stigma then I'm sure he can find men to be on the down low with. How does it reach to harassing a child. And a close family friend child at that. Well they always say it's someone you know. Take a look at this story below as written on Loop News.
Bail granted for St Ann principal charged with indecent assault
Solomon Smith, the principal of Brown's Town Primary School in St Ann who was charged with indecent assault allegedly involving a male teenager of another school, has been granted bail.
The 39-year-old accused was offered bail in the sum of $600,000 when he appeared in the St Ann Parish Court on Wednesday morning.
Smith is to return to court on September 18.
Allegations are that on April 17, the complainant, a 17-year-old high school student, missed his private bus ride to school and made contact with the principal, who is a family friend, to facilitate a drive to school.
It is further reported that during the journey to Brown's Town, the accused fondled the breast of the male teen and placed his hands in his boxers and fondled his sexual organ.
The teen is said to have told his parents of the ‘incident’ weeks later, after reportedly telling his friends that he had become depressed.
A report was subsequently made to the police, and following a probe, officers attached to the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) in the parish, arrested the educator and later charged him.
He was charged on Tuesday (July 9).
During Wednesday's bail hearing, Smith's attorney said his client had denied the allegations that were laid against him.
The attorney also argued that his client had never before had a serious complaint made against him, whether of an unlawful or immoral nature.
The article ends here.
Imagine this child trusted you enough to contact you for a ride to school and you use this opportunity to do something like that. You're such a close family friend that he has your number. Can you imagine how long this man must have been wanting to get this poor child alone. So sick. I'm just glad he didn't keep it to himself and he told his parents.
I hope to God this sick man isn't assaulting the little boys at the primary school and they need to remove him from his position as principal. This situation happens a lot in our country but we usually ignore it because it's young school girls and older men and the girls are so excited and happy for the male attention. But it's not okay.
The young women think it means they are attractive and then they boast to friends as they feel they're mature. Then a lot of them end up pregnant for these grown men. This world that we live in is so scary. We have to try our best to protect our children. I was one of those young girls constantly preyed upon by adult men and in my head at the time there was absolutely nothing wrong. I couldn't see it. I was a child.
Which is why now as a parent myself I ensure that I frequently have open and honest conversations with my daughter. And once my sons are old enough I'll have the same conversations with them and I hope if they're ever faced with anything like this they will be comfortable enough to come and tell me about it. This man shouldn't even have been given bail but he doesn't deserve to sit in jail either being fed three meals a day. If it were my child it wouldn't even have reached to police. Have you guys watched the movie Law Abiding Citizen? Well it would be something like that. Pretty much he captures the men who killed his wife and child and over a very long period of time he slowly tortures them cutting bits of flesh daily. That's what these sick men need as punishment. I hope this child gets counseling and he can recover from this.
